The Ocelli (pronounced oh-CHELL-ee) stitched cowhide rug transforms overlapping, peacock-inspired forms into a richly layered field of color and movement. Hand-pieced from genuine hair-on cowhide, its nested motifs unfold across the surface in deep navy, indigo, cobalt, slate, periwinkle and pale blue.
An additional inner band gives each drop greater dimension and a more intricate rhythm. Natural shifts in color, sheen and hair direction allow the pattern to subtly emerge and recede as the rug is viewed from different angles.
THE STORY BEHIND OCELLI
Ocelli takes its name from the ornamental eyespots found in peacock plumage. Rather than interpreting the reference literally, the design uses overlapping curves, concentric bands and saturated blues to suggest the depth and movement of layered feathers.
The result is both graphic and organic—a statement rug with enough tonal restraint to work beautifully in sophisticated contemporary and transitional interiors.

Yes. Furug can commission stitched cowhide rugs in custom sizes, shapes and color palettes. Designs can incorporate natural cowhide, dyed colors, metallics, embossed hides and other specialty finishes. We work with designers and clients to develop the scale, palette and composition for each project before production begins.
Custom stitched rugs typically require approximately 6–8 weeks for production.
Our stitched cowhide rugs are finished with a durable felt backing with rubberized dots to help provide stability and protect the stitched construction. The backing gives the rug a finished foundation while allowing the natural cowhide surface to remain the focus.
For custom pieces intended as wall art, a lighter backing can be specified to reduce weight while preserving the texture and dimension of the stitched cowhide design.
Regular light vacuuming with a suction-only attachment helps remove dust and debris. Avoid rotating brushes or beater bars, which can be too aggressive for the hair-on cowhide surface.
Blot spills promptly with a clean, absorbent cloth rather than rubbing. Avoid excessive moisture and prolonged direct sunlight. For deeper cleaning, we recommend a professional cleaner experienced with genuine cowhide and leather-backed rugs.
