The Ocelli (pronounced oh-CHELL-ee) stitched cowhide rug transforms overlapping, peacock-inspired forms into a richly layered field of color and movement. Hand-pieced from genuine hair-on cowhide, its nested motifs unfold across the surface in deep navy, indigo, cobalt, slate, periwinkle, and pale blue.

An additional inner band gives each drop greater dimension, distinguishing the design with a more intricate rhythm. Changes in color, hair direction, and natural sheen allow individual shapes to emerge and recede as the rug is viewed from different angles.

The Story Behind Ocelli

Ocelli takes its name from the ornamental eyespots found in peacock plumage. Rather than interpreting the reference literally, the design uses overlapping curves, concentric bands, and saturated blues to suggest the depth and movement of layered feathers.

The result feels both graphic and organic—a statement rug with enough tonal restraint to work beautifully in sophisticated contemporary and transitional interiors.

Every Furug stitched cowhide rug is constructed from individually cut pieces of genuine hair-on cowhide joined with fine coordinating stitching. Changes in hair direction create subtle variations in texture and reflectivity throughout the pattern.

The rug is finished with a coordinating cowhide edge and a durable nonslip backing for added structure and stability.

This design may be commissioned in custom dimensions, shapes, and color palettes. Each custom rug is individually composed and made to order using genuine hair-on cowhide.

Vacuum periodically using low suction and without a rotating brush or beater bar. For spills, blot promptly with a clean, lightly dampened cloth, working with the direction of the hair. Avoid soaking the hide, steam cleaning, or applying harsh chemicals.

Rotate the rug occasionally to encourage even exposure to light and traffic.
