What makes Furug different?
Furug specializes in exceptional natural hides, sheepskins, bespoke stitched cowhide rugs, and distinctive pieces for the home. We focus on quality rather than volume, hand-selecting pieces for their size, color, character, and overall beauty. Many of our products are one-of-a-kind or available only in small quantities.
Will I receive the exact hide shown?
Whenever a product is identified as an exact-hide listing, yes. The hide photographed is the hide you will receive. Because natural hides vary considerably in color, markings, shape, and size, we believe seeing the actual piece before purchasing is especially important.
Where does Furug source its hides?
We source from trusted suppliers and producers around the world, selecting regions known for particular materials and craftsmanship. Our collection includes Brazilian cowhides, South African game hides and zebra, European sheepskins, American bison, and other distinctive natural materials.
Are your hides ethically sourced?
Responsible sourcing is important to us. Our hides are sourced as by-products of established agricultural, ranching, population-management, or legally regulated industries rather than animals being raised solely for decorative hides. Certain wildlife products are also subject to additional permitting and trade requirements.
Do you work with interior designers and the trade?
Yes. Interior designers, architects, retailers, and other qualified trade professionals make up an important part of our business. Approved trade members receive access to trade pricing when logged into their Furug account, along with sourcing and product-selection assistance.
Can you help me find a specific hide?
Absolutely. If you need a particular color, size, marking, species, or quantity that you don't see online, contact us. Our relationships with suppliers allow us to source unusual pieces and larger quantities for residential, hospitality, and commercial projects.
Do you offer custom cowhide rugs?
Yes. Our bespoke stitched cowhide rugs are made to order in a wide range of sizes, patterns, and colorways. Designs can incorporate natural cowhide, dyed colors, metallics, embossed hides, and specialty finishes. We can also work with designers to develop custom patterns and color combinations for a specific project.
Can stitched cowhide be used as wall art?
Yes. Many of our stitched cowhide designs can be produced with a lighter backing specifically for wall installation. This creates a large-scale textural element with the dimension and natural variation of hide without limiting the design to use as a floor covering.
Are samples available for custom stitched rugs?
Yes. Samples of select Furug stitched rug designs are available for purchase. Our standard samples measure approximately 16" Ă— 24" and allow you to see the hide, stitching, construction, and colorway in person before moving forward with a larger project. The sample purchase price can be credited toward a full rug order.
Do you ship throughout the United States?
Yes. Furug ships throughout the United States, and many items can also be shipped internationally. Because our collection ranges from small accessories to oversized hides, rugs, and taxidermy, shipping methods vary by product.
Can I visit Furug in person?
Yes. Our Louisville, Kentucky showroom allows designers and clients to experience many of our hides, rugs, sheepskins, and other pieces in person. We also exhibit at every High Point market in the Suites at Market Square, Salon.
